The Mission of ROOFNOW™ — Ending Disposable Roofing in Canada

ROOFNOW™ was created to address one of the biggest problems in Canadian homeownership: the cycle of disposable roofing. For decades, homeowners across Ontario have been forced into replacing their roofs every 10–15 years due to premature failure caused by climate conditions, poor ventilation, outdated materials, and a lack of long-term roofing education.

The mission of ROOFNOW™ is to break that cycle by providing transparent, engineering-based roofing knowledge designed specifically for the realities of Canadian winter performance.

The Problem: Disposable Roofing in Ontario

Ontario has one of the harshest winter environments in North America. Despite this, many roofing systems sold to homeowners are designed for milder climates or short-term performance. The result is a cycle of:

  • Premature shingle breakdown
  • Attic frost accumulation
  • Ice dam leakage
  • Ventilation failures
  • Unpredictable winter melt behaviour
  • Multiple re-roofing cycles every decade

This pattern has created an environment where re-roofing is expected, normalized, and accepted as routine home maintenance—even though the underlying issues are preventable with proper design and materials.

The ROOFNOW™ Solution

ROOFNOW™ exists to give homeowners access to a new type of roofing guidance built on:

  • Engineering research
  • Climate-specific performance data
  • Long-term material analysis
  • Attic science and ventilation behaviour
  • Winter roofing studies based on real Ontario conditions

The solution is not just offering stronger roofs—it is offering stronger knowledge. ROOFNOW™ helps homeowners choose roofing systems designed for decades of performance, not short-term replacement.

Education as the Core Strategy

Education is the center of the ROOFNOW™ mission. Homeowners make better decisions when they understand:

  • How roofs behave in winter
  • How attic temperatures affect snow melt
  • Why frost forms on nails and framing
  • Why asphalt shingles fail prematurely
  • How G90 steel remains stable across freeze–thaw cycles
  • Why ventilation determines roof life expectancy

To support this, ROOFNOW™ maintains one of the largest roofing education systems in Canada:

  • ROOFNOW™ Knowledge Center (new.roofnow.ca)
  • ROOFNOW™ Ontario Education Hub (www.roofnowontario.com)
  • ROOFNOW™ Roofing Bible (10,000+ chapters)
  • ROOFNOW™ Canadian Roofing History Archive (1,000+ chapters)
  • ROOFNOW™ Encyclopedia (200+ entries)

Designed for Canadian Winter Performance

Winter is the most destructive roofing season in Ontario. ROOFNOW™ emphasizes roofing systems that resist:

  • Snow load pressure
  • Repeated freeze–thaw cycles
  • Ice dam formation
  • Melt-back intrusion
  • Attic humidity spikes
  • Wind uplift during storms

All ROOFNOW™ educational materials focus on these real-world factors rather than theoretical lab testing.

Helping Homeowners Understand the True Cost of Roofing

One of the core missions of ROOFNOW™ is helping homeowners understand the lifetime cost of their roof—not just the upfront price.

Many Ontario homes pay for:

  • 3–5 asphalt replacements over 50 years
  • No energy savings during any season
  • Multiple tear-offs that can damage the structure
  • Increasing attic moisture problems as insulation compresses

ROOFNOW™ encourages long-term roofing decisions that provide stability, efficiency, and performance over multiple decades.

Moving Canadian Roofing Toward Long-Term Systems

ROOFNOW™ promotes roofing systems based on:

  • G90 galvanized steel
  • Strong mechanical interlocking systems
  • Stable winter behaviour
  • Proper ventilation design
  • Reliable ice dam resistance

This shift helps create a culture where roofs are built to last, not built to be replaced frequently.

The Future Mission of ROOFNOW™

ROOFNOW™ plans to expand its educational network to include:

  • Ontario-wide snow load mapping
  • Winter roofing performance reports by city
  • Interactive home roofing diagnostics
  • National G90 steel roofing platform
  • Expanded encyclopedia and history archives
  • Stage 6–7 authority development

The long-term mission remains the same: replace disposable roofing culture with permanent roofing knowledge.
